Graduation Day!

On behalf of our entire team, we wanted to congratulate Dr. Wiggins for completing the intensive, nine course curriculum at the prestigious Kois Center! The Kois Center is an internationally renowned training center for advanced training in aesthetic, occlusion, and restorative dentistry. Dr. Wiggins is currently the only doctor in Sacramento to have completed this training, allowing him to provide our patients with better, more comprehensive diagnostic and treatment approaches for high risk patients. Congratulations Dr. Wiggins! We are so proud of you!!! kois photo

Need Dental Implants?

We are very excited to share that our office is able to offer the placement of dental implants for select patients.  In combination with one of the most rigorous dental implant courses in the country and guidance from nationally recognized specialists, Dr. Wiggins will be integrating dental implants as a part of his work so that patients can get the care they need at a lower cost and with better care coordination.  As part of this important service, Dr. Wiggins is also pursuing a Masters in Dental Implantology at the California Implant Institute to help ensure our patients get the best care and service available.  This is the currently the only program of its kind in the Country and provides rigorous advanced training to dentists. If you or someone that you know has a need for dental implants and cost is a barrier, we may be able to help.  Please contact our office for more information and to schedule a no cost consultation.  We hope this added service will be able to give our patients more access to the care they need, at a lower cost and in a way that is more convenient to them. – Dr. Wiggins and your Dental Crew

Where does the time go?

Happy (belated) 5 year anniversary! Yes, this post is about 2 weeks late. But, better late than never! On May 10, 2015, D2O Dental celebrated its 5 year anniversary. Anyone with kids or operates a business of any kind, knows that 5 years calls for both a time to share your gratitude and celebrate (in reality though, every day is a success in its own way right?!). While we took pause to appreciate the journey, our team also took some time to re-invigorate and reassess how to make our team, our practice, our service better than ever. Our last team meeting was focused on the simple task of what we’re doing well and where we could improve. Your feedback (both positive and constructive) have been invaluable to us during this process. At the end of each visit, you should receive a brief questionnaire to let us know how your visit goes. Don’t be shy! We know you won’t have time to give us feedback every time, but when you do, they get read by a REAL person and are summarized at our meetings. Keep them coming. We love hearing from you. Thanks for giving us the pleasure and honor to be your dental team. We would not be hear without you. You make it worth coming to work every day. Thank you.

Q&A with Dr. Wiggins: Not Just Your Cool, Neighborhood Dentist

Question: Dr. Wiggins, most patients know you as the tall guy with the white coat fighting cavities or creating healthy smiles in the office. Sometimes, people actually enjoy coming to the dentist when they see your team and office.  What do you do to stay on top of your trade and continuing education?

Dr. Wiggins:

There’s a lot dentists do to stay current with advancements in the field.  For me, since 2011, I’ve been studying at the Kois Institute in Seattle, Washington.  This intensive, multi-series course is taught by Dr. John Kois who is arguably the world’s most respected dental educator. He’s designed a curriculum to help general dentists and dental specialists better manage high risk patients as well as those with complex cosmetic needs, using an evidenced –based systemized approach.  I’m very proud to say that I will be completing the program in November 2015. I consider myself very lucky and fortunate to be one of the very few dentists who are able to have completed the Kois Centers’ curriculum and even fewer located in the Northern California region.

Our classes at the Kois Institute have a very diverse mix of dentists, from new graduates who have earned a scholarship to attend to dentists near retirement who want a capstone to their life of practice. As well, I have met dentists from all over the world, from Denmark, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Italy, Dubai, Japan, and Malaysia, and so there has been added value in learning different perspectives that have broadened my own views.

Although the training is geared towards patients with a high level of need, it also helps me every day with how I assess risk, advise treatment, and operate. The goal of all of which is to keep all of my patients as healthy as possible.

I see the difference every day.

High risk patients for cavities are getting less, gum disease is more predictably controlled and even those with complex jaw issues are getting resolution after living with years of pain. I’m also able to do cosmetic work and make smiles that are in balance and harmony with the rest of the body. Being able to provide true Wellness is what I sought to gain for my patients and I think we have accomplished just that.

We work hard to provide a beautiful and modern facility for our patients and a place where patients who have high fear can receive care in a place where they feel safe and the people are compassionate.  The amenities and video goggles also add to make the dental experience better. I’m proud to be a place where patients actually enjoy going the dentist, but also know that I, my team, work very hard to make sure that the care they receive is measured with clinical excellence in mind.

What’s Up Doc? – Introducing a Monthly Q&A with Dr. Wiggins and Team

We know that sometimes you (our patients) have questions for the dentist (or dental team) and you just didn’t have time to ask. The same can be true for our team. We know life is busy and we only have the pleasure of having you in our office for a short period of time, a few times a year. Sometimes, it’s hard to get all the information to and from quickly and concisely.

We decided a monthly Q&A between Dr. Wiggins (and team) and our patients would be a great way to have an ongoing, informal conversation about things that are important to you. Questions may come from you or may be topics that the team has seen over and over again. Please feel free to send any questions to us at if you would like to have your question featured here!

We see our office as being your long-term partner in the journey to excellent oral health and having that amazing smile you deserve. You are always welcome to stop by with any questions. We would love to help in any way. Until your next visit!
